UAVNZ Industry group

UAVNZ is a division of Aviation New Zealand, which, with almost 300 members, is the largest commercial General Aviation association in the country.

UAVNZ exists to maximise the benefits from UA technologies and develop a world-class UA industry in New Zealand. We do this by:

  • Connecting: suppliers and customers, hosting forums and networking events
  • Promoting: UA companies and services, the benefits of UA technology, and safe and professional operating practices
  • Supporting: companies by providing templates and standards, engaging with CAA and the wider aviation industry


Why become a member of UAVNZ?

Understand what is happening in the UA industry and the aviation industry generally, and influence its development. Grow collaborate, learn from and share experiences with your professional colleagues.

UAVNZ’s main focus is on professional UA operators who help grow the commercial industry in NZ. Recognising that many other organisations and individuals contribute to this shared goal, there are two grades of membership:

Benefits of membership:

  • Strength through unity – be part of an influential voice with critical mass
  • Lead policy development for UAs – influence and shape the way policy is developed
  • Reduce compliance costs for UA operators and users – improve regulatory processes
  • Third party endorsement – get credibility through the UAVNZ /Aviation NZ brand
  • Free advice on – CAA issues, medical issues, employment issues and the broader aviation industry.
 

UAVNZ includes operators, manufacturers, researchers, Airways, Callaghan Innovation, and customers. Basically anyone focused on UAV industry growth.


Membership grades

Member: applicable to commercial UA operators who have been certificated in accordance with Civil Aviation Rule Part 102.

Membership requirements:

  • Financial member of the Aviation NZ, UAVNZ division
  • Signed UAVNZ code of conduct
  • Hold an Unmanned Aircraft Operator Certificate (UAOC) issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of NZ
  • Current third party liability insurance.


Associate Member:
 applicable to all industry participants and stakeholders interested in growing commercial and economic outcomes from UAV technology (e.g. commercial Civil Aviation Rule  Part 101 operators, training organisations, system suppliers, research and government organisations).

Membership requirements:

  • Financial member of the Aviation NZ, UAVNZ division
  • Signed UAVNZ code of conduct
  • For commercial non-Part 102 UA operators: current third party liability insurance.


Application process

  • Complete the UAVNZ application form
  • If you are applying for “Member” grade: email a copy of your UAOC to info@uav.org.nz
  • Email a signed copy of the UAVNZ Code of Conduct to info@uav.org.nz
  • Payment of the membership fee for the first year will be processed
  • An email will be sent to you to confirm membership.


Membership review

The Aviation NZ Council reserves the right to decline or cancel membership in accordance with the Constitution and Rules of Aviation Industry Association of New Zealand (Aviation NZ) and if a member breaches the UAVNZ code of conduct.
